Southern Gaming - Code of Conduct

All potential (applying) members is required to read and fully abide by this Code of Conduct in order for their application to become successful.

Players can only wear SG|. tags if:
Their application has been processed as successful.

When joining SG|. Multi-Gaming Clan you will agree to many important things, yet most of all – have fun.

[1.] General
[1.A] Everyone gets a game. You will respect everyone's level of skill and commitment and recognise that not everyone has the same levels of skill, nor should it be expected. There is no “rating” or open “judging” of members skill levels.

[1.B] You will not discriminate against other members based on gender, race, religious beliefs, nationality and so on. Discrimination within SG is not accepted and will be seriously dealt with. Also a public professional image should be kept in mind when posting and displaying signatures and avatars.

[1.C] When playing you must be on Ventrilo. If a channel is to busy with chatter for you, move to a quieter or empty one.

[1.D] Do not talk over clan mates. When a manager or section leader is talking respect them by listening to what they have to say. Do not spam channels with music or unnecessary noise.

[1.E] Members are required to attend clan meetings when they are held on Ventrilo. These will be announced on the forum. It is acceptable to be absent if there are circumstances which do not permit you to be online at the time. In which case, you will be required to read the minutes of the meeting posted on the Website.

[2.] Forum Behaviour

[2.A] Repetitive posts. Posts with no point, subject matter.
No-one enjoys spam email & we don't enjoy spam posts on the SG forums. Please refrain form posting spam.

[2.B] As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only. Moderators should provide link to other thread when locking.

[2.C] Highjacking, is when a post is taken off topic by a person or group of other posters. This is disrespectful & rude to the person who made the original post. We understand that posts can go off on a tangent, but should be brought back on topic. Please keep this to a minimum.

[2.D] Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude.

[2.E] Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts which are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit.

[2.F] Alternative views often described as "Negative feedback" can be very useful, provided that it is presented in a civil, factual manner. Tell us what you don't like and why and how you feel it could be improved. Posts that are insulting and rude may be locked/deleted, no matter how valid the ideas behind them may be.

[2.G] As above, constructive criticism is welcomed, but any member deemed to be overly disruptive, abusive, or counter productive can be removed from a division or SG as a whole on a case by case basis & at the discretion of SG Forum Staff.

[3.] Communications Servers

[3.A] You will behave in a respectful manner toward all people in all our communications mediums including but not limited to SG forums, voice communications and in game.

[3.B] You will behave as you yourself would wish to be treated. You will not abuse, slander other members or non-members. SG has a good reputation so far within gaming community & this is to be upheld by all our members. We take this very seriously & breaches will be dealt with possible expulsion from SG.

[3.C] Refrain from repeated swearing. Most servers do have filters, or server admins that will kick you off the server for repeated swearing. When using voice communication software, please be aware that some members may be running it output through speakers & have young children present.

[3.D] You will conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on the clan as a whole. This means no needless transmissions - e.g. farting, burping, screaming, other bodily functions and sound effects, etc. This also includes music. Music & Shoutcast's shall only be play in the the appropriate channels provided.

Will not “spam” the Comms channels. The game channels are not for random noises or unrelated conversation – they’re for use by members playing the designated games. We provide this server so that members can have fun gaming together, not annoy the hell out of a group of guys trying to have a game. If you are asked to leave a channel because you are not playing, either join in the game or respect their request. Abusing any of these could result in a ban from the server.

[4.] Public Servers/Forums
[4.A] Follow server rules, regardless of server; If you get banned and are unable to compete in the competitions, you are no good to us.

[4.B] Do not type in Global chat unless it is positive. For example "Nice nade mate" ect is acceptable. Negative or complaining topics are not allowed. Example. "You F@#king Hak". If you are accused of hacking etc, you may respond asking what their complaint is. Please screenshot it and please be courteous and polite.
If someone is abusing you screen shoot it and report it to a clan manager or your section leaders. Include your screenshots or game recording.
Abusing people over in-game VoIP is also prohibited.

[4.C] Uphold the values of fairplay. This includes but is not limited to spawn raping, team killing on purpose, use of macros, exploiting or stats padding.

[4.D] Posts on external forums should be kept positive like global chat. If you have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. That incudes things said about your own clan. If we are attacked or criticised in other forums report the post with link to the Chiefs of Staff. They will deal with it.

If you decide to troll and make derogatory posts, then sorry you will have no second chance you will be asked to take your tags off and will be dismissed.

[4.E] While on trial you will use the tag T|. Once you are accepted into the clan you can use SG|.

[5.] Scrims, Friendlies, Matches & Wars

[5.A] Only the Team captains are to write in global before during and after a scrim.

[5.B] Members need to read the associated rules to the game/ladder format you are participating in. It is your responsibility to make sure you know and understand the rules of the competition. If you require any explanations, please talk with your Section Leader.

[5.C] Practice will be organised by your section captains and they will outline the requirements, such as attendance, times, type of training and accepted behaviours during training sessions. Please check the associated sections of the game you are participating in for the details.

[5.D] However, practice will be mandatory. Be prepared to put time into practice. Remember that you are there to train and not muck about. When you waste time by not listening or messing around, you’re not only wasting your time, but the time of your team mates.

[5.E] While in practice you must be quiet and listen to the person in charge and perform each task asked without protest. Asking for clarification of a task is fine.

[5.F] While in a scrim you will listen to the Captain. Keep the Vent channels quiet and use only essential squad chat (If available). Swearing and chatter will not be accepted and the person responsible will be reprimanded. Do not “rage” or call hackusations during a scrim match. Focus on the task at hand.

You will uphold the spirit of our code of conduct in all your gaming pursuits. This spirit is founded on a sense of decency, fair play and respect of all gamers.

Not complying with this Code, can result in a temporary or a permanent ban from either the Forums (www.southern-gaming.com), Ventrilo, SG|. Servers and/or the whole Clan.

Remember when you wear the clan tags you represent us as a whole, and most of all have fun, enjoy yourself and wear them proudly.
